Rebuilding Lives: Turkey Earthquake Relief

4:17am, February 6th 2023 as much of the world lay asleep, a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Southern Türkiye near the city of Gaziantep and Northern Syria. It was followed by a series of powerful aftershocks.

Tragically, more than 50,000 lives have been lost, and countless others find themselves without homes, basic necessities like food, water, and essential medical care. The people of Turkey are resilient but were confronted with the monumental task of rebuilding their lives amid the remnants of their shattered homes, making our support crucial at this critical juncture.

It was a tough time with lots of people hurt and over 3500 lives lost.

Our team personally traveled to Türkiye, extending beyond the act of providing financial aid. We brought an extra measure of help and care, aiming to be more than just givers. In meeting families who had endured significant challenges, we took the time to sit down, listen to their stories, and offer our presence as a source of comfort. Your support enabled us to go beyond traditional assistance, allowing us to genuinely connect with these families, providing a meaningful and empathetic presence during their challenging moments.

In response to the earthquake, we undertook a significant initiative under our education mandate to support children affected by the disaster. Recognizing the urgent need to facilitate remote learning, we provided iPads to children, enabling them to continue their education despite the disruptions. Additionally, we alleviated financial burdens by covering school fees and supplying essential educational materials such as school supplies and backpacks. This comprehensive support aimed not only to restore normalcy in their educational journey but also to empower them with the tools necessary to thrive academically in challenging circumstances
